An unexpected flooding

The nature around here in the Alps is amazing. It has definitely been, and still is, one of the best reasons for moving here — we get to discover breathtaking new places and sights regularly. Unfortunately, just over a week ago an exceptionally heavy rain caused heavy flooding and a lot of damage not too far away from our home. After the heavy rain had subsided, we went for a walk to see how the situation looked like close to the river which runs near us. The water level sure seemed high and the current appeared rather violent.

Just a few days later the situation looked more normal again already. Sadly, that was not — and still is not the — case everywhere in the surrounding areas.
